First, their website said 'Total due at move-in:†$29.00 But there is no cross object referring to it so it looks like total cost to move in is $29. When you are moving it tends to be costly, and I was running VERY thin on funds. The representative told me there is a monthly insurance cost. And treated me like I'M an idiot for not knowing that. Gee, when I rented out my own home, I paid the insurance and didn't double payment on my renters. I must've missed the mental osmosis report for trying something new.So the website distorted the truth and shamed me for not knowing additional costs are NOT included, despite the website. No potable water on site. No light in the building where my unit is, very long hallway. !! I called this Tempe location from my moving location beyond N Scottsdale because I had been running a fever all day, it was Saturday and I knew they wouldn't be open on Sunday. I called to see if I could pay on line and she said if I do they would charge me for the lock. I even said to her that is kinda a big deal right now, because I was running very thin cash-wise. So with a raging fever I drove all the way down there to save the cost of the lock. I was told they'd add the cost of a lock to my next bill. And lied to my face saying I said I was using one of my own!! How would I say that when I've never used storage before - it never occurred to me they don't lock your storage unit. Maybe if the website would've clarified expectations rather than stated $29 to move in, people who have used storage before and those new to the process - especially in a college town - would be better prepared. Don't blame your customers!
