Movers moved the majority of my things into this horrible facility at the end of December 2021. I had not physically visited the unit until early January when I completed moving my things there. I was shocked at the filthiness, lack of security, and overall lack of maintenance. For example, the fire extinguisher next to my unit had been ripped out and has not been replaced at the time of writing this review. Towards the end of January, I was in my unit organizing things while the renter across from me was in the process of filing a report for his unit being burglarized. When I left, I put as much of my things in my car as it could hold with the intention of moving to another company's storage immediately. Unfortunately, by the time I returned on February 7, my unit had been broken into. I was robbed of over 130 items with a cost of goods value totaling 21K. (Public Storage insurance covers a measly 5k with a $100 deductible-SO DEFINITELY GET RENTERS INSURANCE if you plan on renting with Public Storage no matter the location.) Because I have an e-commerce business the loss of these items cost me greatly in more ways than one. I proceeded to remove anything of real value over the next month and by random chance, ran into two other renters who had also been victims of burglary and told me that this facility has had repeated break-in burglary issues since May of 2021. Yet ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has been done by Public Storage or its off-site manager. Insult to injury, my rent was raised to an unsightly amount within 1 month of moving in. The explanation given to me was that Public Storage rent increases are based on current market value.

So I had a very bad experience with another company. Looking for a reasonable deal for short term storage contacted PS. Thank goodness I did. Kristin was the person whom I was greeted by. She was very personal and welcoming. Walked me through all aspects of renting a storage unit. She took the time to ask what my needs were and made sure I was not paying to much for those needs. She covered the Insurance, walked the site and reviewed the unit. Very comfortable with the facility and the level if customer service. I decided to move forward with the rental unit. Kristin made sure to check to check in with me while I was moving in. Very few times have I had a manager ( Kristin) ask if there was anything more they could provide after a sale I really felt appreciate here. I know I made a very good decision to do business with PS. Fully satisfied with the service and the unit.

I came here because the advertised 1$ for the first month. I made an online reservation which said it would only cost me $25 administration fee plus the 1$ for the first month. Upon arriving to sign up for the unit with all my stuff, the lady had me sign everything and said it's actually $63 for this first month because the dollar fee, admin fee, mandatory insurance, and a prorated fee. Having no choice since I had no time to look elsewhere, I paid and proceeded to move my things in. 1$ for first month's move in is a lie filled with hidden charges. 3 stars for superb cleanliness. Also side note- does not have 24 hour gate access and limited hours on Sunday.

I went online to research cost, location, etc. and found Public Storage at 44th & Ward to have the best online rates. I scheduled a "move in" date and met with Jo to sign papers and see the storage unit I would be renting. Jo was very professional, friendly, thorough and provided additional information regarding moving/packing supplies, insurance, etc. I feel confident and secure in storing my belongings at this location.

The actual unit and the staffing at the facility are fine as usual, but the costs of the units are getting seriously out of hand. The real value of the unit I have is only about one-third of what I am paying, and I am regularly looking for a less expensive alternative, of which I may have to trade convenience and even professionalism of the staff for. If I win a small lottery quantity I may invest in this kind of business, as it appears there is gold in those metal shed storage rooms ....
