CubeSmart Self Storage - Washington - 1850 New York Ave NE

I inadvertently checked off "No" for recommending but I WOULD actually recommend to others. I would just inform them of the mouse droppings I witnessed (with my video) and have them make their own decision. I must say overall the staff is AMAZING!!!

We needed a last-minute storage solution near Howard University, and this facility worked out well for our needs. The unit was the perfect size for a couch, kitchen items, and bedroom belongings (without bedroom furniture). When we first arrived, there were mouse droppings in the area, but thankfully the staff was still on-site. We went to the front desk, and a staff member immediately came to clean the area. She was also very helpful and suggested using moth balls in the unit and avoiding storing food items. Throughout the planning process, the staff was responsive and helpful, and the facility itself seemed secure. Overall, despite the initial issue, the customer service and convenience made for a positive experience.

Most units require elevator access, but the elevator is pretty big.

The location on NY Ave. NE can be very frustrating to get into and out of, so if you need daily access, it might not be best for you. But it's convenient for weekend and evening use, for sure.

I've used this facility on three separate occasions and have always enjoyed my experience. The check-in / registration process was extremely efficient and easy to follow. If you need to speak with the office staff, they are very friendly and helpful. I've always found the pricing to be very reasonable and inexpensive for what you get.

Very Clean and Good Customer Service.

Perfect storage spot, easy to access

Initially I saw this 5x5 storage unit up for $60 a month, which seemed reasonable as it was on the outskirts of the city and less expensive than other units within the city. However the checkout process on the day before move in revealed the true price of $126 after administrative fees, mandatory protection plan, and a padlock purchase. This was difficult for me, since I had no other options by the time I actually paid for the unit. The actual move in process was simple and the instructions were easy to follow. The unit was clean, accessible, and the space was exactly as advertised. The unit also seemed to have reliable security systems. Overall I would recommend this storage unit IF you are okay with the pricing and fees.

The facility is conveniently located and priced around the same amount as other places. It's clean enough but the one star review is based on the unprofessional treatment I received from the manager, Shantell, of the store when I went to secure my storage rental on move in day. I had never experienced anything like this before in my life and had I not had a rented truck (with a deadline I couldn't extend) with my belongings already with me I would not have rented at this facility. For full disclosure, I did file a complaint with Cube Smart and the District Manager called me and apologized for my experience and said he would "address it with the manager of the store" and for me to call him should I have any additional issues. For the price and the plethora of other storage facilities available, I would not recommend this place because of the disrespect you may experience when trying to pay for your unit or resolve any other problems.

Smooth and enjoyable move in experience. Customer service was great and it was a very smooth process.

Good price for a temporary storage. I spent a few hours mopping the storage unit before storing my items. I wish they could be cleaned better prior to my move in. I hope they can improve the lighting at night since the motion sensors do not light up easily.

Went in to get storage unit and the customer service was phenomenal. Extremely helpful, the unit I was assigned to had for issues so we searched until we found another. The one I got was closer to the elevator lol which we all want and it was cleaner looking than the others. I was very pleased and the pricing is one of the best Iﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢ve found during my search. Highly recommended.

however, I already reviewed and expressed my concern that the attendant would only let one person in the office at a time, which I thought was totally unnecessary, as the facility is large enough to socially distance and it was blazing hot outside and I had to wait for about 10 minutes .. senior citizen left out on the heat .. not okay

Manager is very friendly and explained everything thoroughly. Facilities are very clean and easy to access, and seem secure. Be prepared to bring your own lock or purchase one there, and know that insurance isnﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢t factored into your quoted rate.

This cube smart self-storage in Washington is very safe and it is highly secure. The staff is courteous and friendly. The place is clean and well organized. The only thing you should be aware of is the in and out timings. U can get stuck inside the property with the only way out, a long phone call to customer care.

I had a great and easy experience with cubesmart. When I called for more information, the guy on the phone did a great job of answering my questions, and he was very thorough with walking me through the process. He was very polite and eager to help. The manager on the phone and in person was super friendly and professional. The move-in and storage rental process was super easy and not stressful!

Summary says it all. Was treated both trips extremely well. I will say they could use more carts, hand sanitizer, and cleaning wipes for carts.

I walked in and the women were really nice- smiling, joking- which is needed during this tough time. I ended up needed a bigger unit than the one I reserved, and I was able to get a great offer. The woman explained everything step by step, and I liked how clean and user friendly the facility is. Definitely will recommend to friends!

It was a smooth experience but pricing is a bit high.

The tops of the storage cells have like checkerboard rails, and animals like mice or rats can very easily get in, so be wary.

I was impressed with how clean the facility was. I've used storage spaces before & I even commented to the manager that I was amazed at the cleanliness. The facility was very very busy when I arrived, but the staff & manager were professional, courteous and juggled all of the clients needs (including mine) with ease. The place is about 2 years old and is very well kept. The storage areas and halls are very clean as is the front office area. There is security in the form of access code entry required for outdoor gate entry and upwards bound elevator use. The general manager, Frankie is wonderfully helpful and upbeat. She answered all my questions thoughtfully. My experience signing the storage rental paperwork with her went smoothly and quickly as well. I was unhappy that only one elevator was operational the day I moved my stuff in however. This translated to more movers time and more expense for me. While I am a very new tenant, I would definitely recommend this facility based on my limited experience so far.

Itﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢s exactly what you need! I live in Shaw and this facility is an easy drive up New York Ave. The facility has dollys/carts to make moving easier, and everything locks/unlocks with your given PIN number.

The facility is very clean and convenient if you are moving from Washington DC. The customer service was a bit shady, however. They call you when you make an online reservation. When they called me, they confirmed that they offer prorated daily-rate if you are storing stuff 2-3 days over the monthly stay (i.e., so you'd just pay for those extra days instead of full month). But when I arrived with my stuff, the customer service said that they do not offer such service. I booked this storage, as opposed to the other ones in the area, for this exact reason - that they offer prorated rate. I was totally caught off guard when they told me this on the day I arrived with my moving company that I had already paid for. I felt like they kind of sweet talked/lied to you in advance just to get you to come and tell the truth when you are actually there, which is at your most vulnerable state since your stuff is already packed and have hired/paid movers by that point. I made several calls to make the case afterward - they said that they will make a note on my storage unit and try to accommodate. But I haven't moved out yet so we will see what happens. Depending on how the exiting goes, I may change my review.

The customer service here is wonderful. Everyone I have spoke with has been super helpful! The place is easy to access and clean. I wish there were more Dollys available for moving, but other than that, everything is perfect!

I've had an excellent experience working with two separate managers at the Cube Smart location on New York Avenue. They are pleasant and capable, and I appreciated that they showed me the unit and spoke with me about all available options before I made a final decision. The units themselves are clean and well conditioned. Access is easy via large elevators and parking beys. However, there are only a very few rolling carts, and no hand trucks available to assist with the move. Especially on busy move-in or move-out days, this can be a problem.

I was called multiple times to confirm my reservation but at no time did anyone let me know that I had to bring a lock and key and that I needed to pay insurance. This is not too hard to share when calling and leaving a voicemail.

AWESOME customer service from property manager Frankie! My move-in day was fraught with delays loading at one storage facility (north of Baltimore) to arriving at my new location (New York Ave., DC) - Frankie did "check-ins" with me about every 25-30 minutes, starting 1 hour before the office closing. I was delayed about 15 minutes arriving and she generously stayed to check me in!

Perfect sized unit for all my belongings. Only took a few minutes to sign up.

When I arrived to pay for my storage unit, a man named Frank helped me and he was not only nice, but extremely knowledgable. He helped me through the process and when I left, I felt ready to move my possessions into the unit. The facility itself is beautiful - nice and clean and well-maintained. I felt that my things would be safe there. Next, the price was the best in the area. I checked from Alexandria to Silver Spring and no other storage facility came close to the pricing I received at CubeSmart on NY Ave. in D.C. I highly recommend using this facility.

Had a great experience here! They have plenty of space and tools to help you move things up into your storage unit- including use of a truck for free! They called a few days ahead of my reservation to make sure I didn't need anything else and explain protocols etc.- super useful. Workers were helpful, even when I lost the key to my lock and they had to cut it off. Would def recommend to others.

I like having a location in DC that is well priced and close by. The customer service was great. My only complaint is that they only have 2 dollies for the whole facility, but I'm sure this will be remedied with time.

With the purchase of their $14 insurance, my 1st month was only $1 and I also received a discount my on 2nd month along with a Dunking Doughnuts gift card. Customer service was great. They also offer free truck rental. Cheaper than any storage place in the area.
