SmartStop Self Storage - Algonquin - 1910 E. Algonquin Rd

I looked at 2 other facilities prior to Smart stop and I am sooo happy the other places didn't have what I needed because this place was top notch! The price is very fair! The office is super clean. Tim who set me up was so helpful and thorough and just a super nice human!! He made my day! The grounds are clean and easy to navigate through. My 10 x 10 unit has lots of space. Thrilled with my new drive up unit!

The facility is clean, and it does serve its sole purpose; to store someoneﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢s belongings. A few of the down sides would be, if someone were to unload a truck full of things, you have to unlock the door over and over again to go in and out. There is no indoor drive in, you are unloading from the outside. It is best to do it on a day that is not terribly hot or really cold. Lastly, the first floor is the only floor that is climate controlled. One pro, the location is gated.

Customer service is pleasing, storage is very clean and price is very reasonable compared to other storage units.

Price is good, but was given an 8' x 8' unit when I had paid for a 10 x 10. The manager was fantastic though - I just wish the posted space was accurate. I had planned to share the space with another, but the limited space prevented that.

The facility is clean, secure and well laid out. However, I was quoted one price and charged more when I moved in. I had to prove the lower amount was quoted as they would not take my word for it. I also was told by Tom on the phone that rate hikes would be minimal about every 6 months. Then on check-in, Schuyler told me to expect 15% increases regularly. I paid almost $1,000 to move from one facility to another because of unreasonable rate hikes (39% in one year) so this is a major concern of mine. Before moving, Tom assured me they did not have rate hikes like that but more in the 3-5% range.

We're moving to West Dundee and after some research we decided to rent a storage unit at the Algonquin Smart Stop Self Storage. Great decision. We rented a 5 x 10 first floor interior unit and moved our stuff in. All went smoothly and both the indoor and outdoor areas were immaculate. We were also pleasantly surprised how much room was in the unit. We'll be bringing more things to store. Thanks to Schuyler for all his help. Since we're moving into a one bedroom apartment, this was really the way to go for storage!
