Extra Space Storage - 3040 - Alexandria - General Green Way

So far, so good! It’s an older building, so expect dinged up walls, squeaky elevators, and some signs of locks being cut off (one can only hope from nonpayment and not theft) but what I LOVE about this place is how nice the staff is. Marcus helped me with the check in process and showed me my unit and he was great! Answered my million questions and seemed like a genuinely kind person. Another day, a woman helped me find a cart and I missed her name, but it seems like they don’t mind helping people, which is not the case in many places.

The service from the beginning to the end was perfect thank you to the gay you have in the office

Iﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢m glad that I found this storage in my area ! The facility is clean , easy access to my unit , great size - just what I was looking for but most importantly, the PRICE / RATE is the best deal so far. Just hoping it stays low for a long time - as we all know how storage rates go over time. The staff were great - Josh & Josh were both professional , friendly and accomodating . Excellent in communication, well understood with contract.

Nobody was in the office and I couldn't get to the unit i reserved. I didn't realize I had to bring a padlock or buy one. The light in the unit doesn't work.

Old but solid facility. Climate controlled, friendly customer service. One downside: the elevator was out, and this unit was on the second floor, which was an unpleasant surprise. It was unclear when the elevator would be back in operation.

Storage was good, clean, and staff was friendly. The location is convenient as well.

I was able to sign the rental agreement online which was great but when I arrived at the unit the welcome bag with the lock was missing.

The manager Dennis was very helpful and quick with the service.

My move took 3 days and a few trips to Life Storage it was extremely stressful not knowing exactly how much stuff I had until I packed it all up. Dennis at Life Storage made my life allot simpler. First I reserved a 5'X 10' online, then when I got to the facility Dennis helped me to downgrade it to a 5'X 5' because online they don't tell you about the addition $14 - $16 monthly insurance charge on top of the monthly fee. Then the next day when the movers came, their entire truck was filled and I still had things left so I felt I needed an additional 5'X 5' unit which Dennis found me one close to the first unit. The move took all day until about 3:30pm and I called Life Storage to ask what time they close and Dennis answered and told me 4pm. I was in the middle of moving things in my personal vehicle and told Dennis I couldn't make it there until 4:15pm to pick up the Life Storage Van I reserved. Dennis stayed late just to make sure I was able to get the Van. The next day I was able to combine the contents of my 1st storage unit into my second unit and Dennis helped me to cancel the first unit. Dennis went above and beyond what was required from his job to ensure my accommodation needs were met. Dennis definitely portrayed exemplary customer service skills and I will definitely recommend anyone moving to the Alexandria area to give Life Storage a call if they are in need of storage. Thank you Dennis, its people like you that define the term "Customer Satisfaction."

I could not use the elevator. It has a very narrow door (not a freight elevator) in a very narrow corridor. It does not stay open and closes every 5 seconds. There's no way you can move big pieces of furniture using this elevator. The numbering outside is very confusing, it only lists the numbers on the first floor, not the second floor. We spent 10 minutes walking through every door of the building and going on to the second floor looking for our unit.

The place has good service and plenty of people to help you out. The storage building themselves could use some work. The elevator had no lights and the lights in the units themselves didnﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢t work, but the place does the job in storing things.

Great prices and sufficient space

Mary is such a wonderful person who was very helpful in showing me the facility and helping me by pushing the cart for me and unloading my staff from the cart for me! She helped me in explaining how to pack my things and good in direction! Thank you Mary!

Lady at checkin was very nice

The lady at the front desk is a blessing to this business. They are lucky to have such a great woman with amazing people skills.

I needed temporary storage for a few months for cheap and this was perfect. Easy to reserve, pay, and the unit was clean.

I did the paperwork online. Super easy and straightforward. All I needed to do was show up and move my stuff in.

My storage unit clearly was a mess and was not properly inspected prior to me moving in. It had trash and broken glass scattered everywhere. I had to buy a broom and sweep it all out myself since the office wasn't open at the time. I brought this issue to the property office attention that day when they did opened and not even a simple apology was offered. My recommendation to future renters is to inspect your storage unit during normal business hours and document it to avoid all the stress and wasted time on move in day.

The location is clean and very accessible. The staff is courteous and helpful. The rate is very competitive, better than most. I moved my items from a Public Storage close to my home to this Life Storage, which is farther away. I'm happy that I made the move to Life Storage.

I completed the paperwork ahead of time online, so the entire process from walking in the door to seeing the unit and leaving only took about 15 minutes. Albert was super nice and helpful, the grounds are clean and accessible, and the price canﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢t be beat!

The customer service representative that I checked in with "Aldo Gutierrez" was very knowledgeable, made sure he took me through all the steps to ensure I knew how to use all the things in the facility that I needed. He also went with me through all the codes to enter and leave the facility. He just had overall great customer service and because of service like his I highly recommend this facility. I really appreciate the time he took to make sure I knew how to use the lock I purchased and ensuring I could do everything on my own when I return. 5 ***** Stars! The facility is very clean as well and the pricing was great compared to other storage units.

The service here is great. We had no issues with viewing the facility beforehand and access. The pricing is straightforward and affordable with convenient 24hr entry. Our unit is on the second floor and we has no problems getting our things there

The security and lighting issues are a problem and I now need to find another unit to move to.

It's a bargain, especially with the use of the moving van. It was the deciding factor when considering using uhual for storage and renting their truck..

I am moving out of state and was impressed with the location and customer service for the price. My 5X10 unit is on the second floor and there are two steps to get to the unit itself, which can seem like and inconvenience but it is really not a big deal. I am most impressed with the fact that they land you a truck for moving, one time, for free! This made my move super easy! I highly recommend them!

Great customer service from the woman working the front desk, facilities as clean as can be expected, easy to book and move in within a few days. Convenient trolleys for moving goods and excellent locks on sale in office. Fully satisfied with the experience.

The place isn't too bad, and the service is great! I was able to fit what I had in the 5' x 5'.

Please, add a light to the units. I needed one and had to use an iPhone strobe light. It was very frustrating.

I would rate this facility 4.5 stars out of 5 overall. They lose a half star due to the lack of a "ramp" on the doors leading into the facility. Instead it is a ledge which is difficult to get over with a dolly when moving boxes from the truck into the facility. On my first visit, I had to unload the hand cart in order to get over the ledge. Now I have learned to place the hand cart inside of the door and then load it so I don't have to push a loaded hand cart over the ledge which can be difficult to do.

The manager was very helpful. Showed me a few units. She still honored the online pricen even after I chose a different unit than what I have reserved.

The customer service is not the greatest. More interested in talking to each other than helping the customers. Not a smile noticed, they must like their job.

The office staff was not the most friendly. My first time going there after I had rented the storage unit, the office was open and my understanding is that the gate would be opened for us. So I got out of my vehicle and went inside, 2 people were having a conversation among themselves and it took a moment for them to realize I was there. I asked if they could open the gate, the gentleman pointed out the door at the keypad and just as I got to the key pad it automatically opened. Waste of time!

I choose this one because it was the cheapest. Move-in was smooth, except I was forced into buying a $10 lock, since they didn't tell me I needed one beforehand.

The girl who helped me was wonderful! She helped me with the leasing process from start to finish. We were freezing and exhausted from moving for 10 hours and she offered us water! I was pleased with my experience.

It is easy to use but somewhat unsecured. They have good rate thru sparefoot, but i didn't know i need my won lock and homeowners insurance. It will be really helpful if you provide those kind of information so we can be ready beforehand.

Good for anyone who needs a space for extra boxes and furniture. Its off any main roads and hidden so I don't assume it is targeted much for theft or vandalism.

It was decent.

Had started at another storage place that sprung an insurance fee ($12/mo) on me at sign-up. I deferred and kept looking, calling UBs and eventually renting a larger, humidity controlled unit for less than the smaller, no humidity control at the first place. UBs also needed insurance, but was willing to let me bring in a copy of my homeowners policy to satisfy requirement. Good clean facility and easy, nice people to work with. Happy we chose it.

Easy process. Showed up and filled out paperwork pretty quickly. The only issue is that you have to have home owner's insurance or renter's insurance or they charge extra. They require insurance either way. Other than that, we got the unit we reserved and quickly moved in. Great service and friendly staff.

Reserved a 5x5 on the phone Saturday get a call the next day after we had loaded up the truck that our particular unit is on the 2nd floor w/ no elevator but stairs. Not what we confirmed on Saturday. Bad business tactics. Ended up saying "NO thanks" and went elsewhere. When we complained they offered to "allow us to trade up" but of course and a higher price. SHADY BAIT and SWITCH TACTICS. They have good prices but you will prob never get the "one left" unit that they have for the lowest price. look elsewhere!!!

The facility representative was perhaps the nicest person I've met this month, and very helpful and prompt. The security is surprisingly thorough as well: when I initially installed my padlock, I put it on the wrong rung of the door by accident so that it could be opened; within 12 hours, the facility called me to inform me that it was insecure and that I should come fix it.

No elevators to access smaller units and that is not indicated on the website.

IIt would have been very helpful to know that the facility did not have elevators. Also, I needed more ID than informed of and there was no internet service. My initial arrival got off to a very bad start, but got better by the end.
